arts and dvd+cdrw combo problems in KDE 3.2

I just installed kernel 2.6.2 and KDE 3.2 on my FC1 box and everything is working fine except for a few things. I have the Runaway Process Catcher applet turned on because every now and again kde will hang for a few seconds but then after a couple of esc's or whatever it'll clear up. I have the beta version of OSS 3.99b installed on here for my sound. The Runaway Process Catcher will pop up with a message that says artsd is taking up to much cpu blah blah, is this a problem with arts, oss, or what? Any suggestions would be helpful.

One other thing is, since i've installed the new kernel and kde my dvd+cdrw combo drive is not being recognized..this may be a common problem but i couldn't find anything on it when i searched. The drive is a toshiba, but i forget the model.

Thanks
