After FC4 yum upgrade, D-Link gigabit: sk98lin...delaying initialization
I've just installed FC4 in hopes of following the Fedora myth(TV)ology HOWTO
When I first booted, everything, including my D-Link Gigabit NIC, was detected and worked properly.
I then followed one of the first steps in the HOWTO: "yum upgrade"
and ended up with `uname -r` of 2.6.16-1.2111_FC4
Now my NIC is only partially set up. During boot I get:
"sk98lin device eth0 does not seem to be present, delaying initialization"
but "kudzu -p" gives me
"
class: NETWORK
bus: PCI
detached: 0
device: eth0
driver: sk98lin
desc: "D-Link System Inc Gigabit Ethernet Adapter"
vendorID: 1186
deviceID: 4c00
subVendorID: 1186
subDeviceID: 4c00
pciType: 1
pcidom: 0
pcibus: 0
pcidev: d
pcifn: 0
"
doesn't that mean the card is partially detected?
"ifconfig eth0 up" gives me:
"eth0: unknown interface: No such device"
If I run Network Configuration in KDE, eth0 is listed as inactive. If I try to Activate I get "sk98lin device eth0 does not seem to be present, delaying initialization" again...
So, I'd like to get this NIC working again but I do have alternatives... I'm just trying to get MythTV working. I've tried KnoppMyth, Ubuntu 5.10, Pluto, and now FC. The farthest I've gotten was with Ubuntu. MythTV worked until I tried to change channels then it would hang... Anyway, general suggestions about MythTV are welcome too =)
Any help would be awesome.
