AdobeReader won't execute in Fedora 20 - Frustration BIG TIME
Fedora 20-i386/KDE
I have installed AdbeRdr9.5.5-1_i486linux_enu.rpm on Fedora 20.
When I execute acroread the Red Adobe Splash window flashes on for about one second and then disappears, in other words Adobereader just does not start.
The AdbeRdr9.5.5-1_i486linux_enu.rpm ran fine in Fedora 18, what gives with Fedora 20 ?
This has got to be a Fedora 20 issue.
I have this same AdbeRdr9.5.5-1_i486linux_enu.rpm installed on three other Fedora 20 boxes and get the same results when trying to execute acroread.
I have to use the AdobeReader because I have to get on BSA website and edit their Forms and print them out. and they won't accept and any other PDF viewer.
The FOSS PDF readers will not let you edit Online and print out the forms.
Then see if a log file appears in the /tmp directory, and see what it spits out. AcroRead used to have a very nasty script bug that required a slight patch to get it working properly.
Of course there's always xpdf, ocular, and libreoffice (I think) that can open PDFs.
