Adobe Flash Player can't install

Whenever I use Firefox, there's always a message for me to update it to the most recent version.

When I installed the update to Adobe Flash Player, there's a message saying that it's been installed and updated.

I know I have the updated version of Adobe Flash Player because if I didn't I wouldn't be able to get the following sites to work correctly:

http://www.nciku.com [I am ABLE to write Chinese characters in the writing pad via the mouse click and drag]

http://www.youtube.com [I am ABLE to play videos]

I've been to http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ and it said "You have version 10.1.82.76 installed"

So, I don't understand why this problem occurred.

ignore the message, if it is working.

On 64-bit, you will need to use alternatives like gnash

You can turn it off in preferencies so firefox does not look for updates to it self, only add-ons.

Not true, at least for me. I have CentOS 5.5 64-bit and have Adobe flash player on Firefox 3.6.3:

"aboutlugins" :
Quote:
NPAPI Plugins Wrapper 1.3.0

File: npwrapper.so
Version:
nspluginwrapper is a cross-platform NPAPI plugin viewer, in particular for linux/i386 plugins.
This beta software is available under the terms of the GNU General Public License.

MIME Type Description Suffixes Enabled
unknown/mime-type Do not open none Yes
Shockwave Flash

File: nswrapper_32_32.libflashplayer.so
Version:
Shockwave Flash 10.1 r53

MIME Type Description Suffixes Enabled
application/x-shockwave-flash Shockwave Flash swf Yes
application/futuresplash FutureSplash Player spl Yes
I install it from Adobes repository. Maybe all you need to do is to install i386 package on x86_64 system.

I have 64 bit beta flash player 10 installed

*edit*
...However it seems that Adobe closed development of it... at least for now, you you may have to do the ndiswrapper 32 bit flash

This is the link where you would have gotten it though. Keep an eye on it, they may post it back up soon.

Moreover the 64-bit flash from adobe is known to be unsafe.
