Adding a new hard drive to Fedora Core
I've been using Linux for awhile now but I have never had to add new hardware until today.
I have a new 40 GB hard drive that I plan to add as a secondary primary drive. Is there anything special that I need to do to the Hard drive to get it working under FC2, or does it automatically configure itself? Do I need to format the hard drive like I do in windows? If so, how? Thanks so much for your help. yong_sa |
hello!
to format it like in windows?? yes if it's new or if it's a FAT32 or NTFS and you would like to have it EXT3. the hdd will be automatically detected, you just have to mount it under linux. fdisk -l this will show all partitions and harddrives. then mount it and eventuelly edit /etc/fstab to have it mounted on each system start. man mount there are a lot of posts here how to mount. if you don't get it post here your output of fdisk like above and I'll help you.
