Accidentally deleted "Trash" on desktop and could not restore/re-add it. Right-click on deskop can't find "add applet". Please advise where it can be located. TIA
Empty the trash as root, and the icon will be correct. I fixed my trash can with sudo konqueror trash:/ and then right-click->Empty Trash Bin in the Konqueror window that opened.

Unfortunately it doesn't work with my KDE... The icon is always full...
Have you any other ideas?? Please...
I've found the answer Here it is:
Create a text file put this in it save to it to the desktop with the name Trash.desktop
I'm having this same issue. Accidentally deleted my trashcan from the desktop and when I restored it with the link it doesn't regain full functionality.
I can indeed empty the trash, but the icon does not update to the correct empty/full icon, nor does the sound play.
I'm using Fedora 11 and KDE 4.3.2
Can't figure out how to restore the default functionality where the folder view refreshes the icon and plays the .ogg file when the trash is empty.
The only way I can get my icon to update is to right click it, view properties, and then select OK. Once I do that, the folder view refreshes the icon and displays the appropriate one (empty or full).
Manual refreshes (via right click to select refresh and also using F5) don't work.
Any help is appreciated. Also found some load-on-demand services in the KDE service manager, but couldn't find how to start them and don't know if they're relevant.
