About flash player plugin

Hi folks,

FC5_64
Flash Player 7 for Linux Plug-in
Version 7.0.25.0

Which directory I have to copy following files to?

libflashplayer.so
flashplayer.xpt

After closing Firefox, tried following directories respectively, all fail;

/usr/lib64/mozilla-1.7.13/plugins/
/usr/lib64/mozilla/plugins/
/usr/lib/mozilla/plugins
/usr/lib64/firefox-1.5.0.2/plugins/

TIA

flash wont work with a 64 bit browser. flash will only work on a 32 bit browser. Usually coping the .so file in the browsers' plugin directory will work.

To /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins

But it will not work...... the plugin is 32-bit only and does works with the 64-bit versions of firefox/mozilla.

Solution uninstall the 64-bit versions of mozilla and/or firefox and install the 32-bit version(s).

Hi folks,

Tks for your advice.

# rpm -qa flash-plugin firefox
Code:
flash-plugin-7.0.63-1
firefox-1.5.0.2-1.2.fc5
I suppose it is a 32bit firefox

Ran;
# yum -y install flash-plugin

Went through without complaint.

# ls -l /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/
Code:
total 8
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 37 May 12 14:34 flashplayer.xpt ->
/usr/lib/flash-plugin/flashplayer.xpt
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 39 May 12 14:34 libflashplayer.so ->
/usr/lib/flash-plugin/libflashplayer.so
Symlinks created automatically during installing flash-plugin

Tested on;
http://www.studiocleo.com/indexfiles/indexmn.html#

Failed still asking to download and install "flash-plugin"

Tested other websites on Internet, flash-plugin did not work also
requesting to download flash-plugin

(Remark: including restarted firefox and restarted FC5_64)

Further action taken;
# mkdir -p /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fs/
# ln -s /etc/X11/fs/config /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fs/config

# ls -l /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fs/
Code:
total 4
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 18 May 12 15:27 config -> /etc/X11/fs/config
No improvement found.

Please do not assume; rpm -qa --qf="%{n}-%{v}-%{r}.%{arch}.rpm\n" firefox

You already provided a strong hint (/usr/lib64/firefox-1.5.0.2/plugins/) that leads me think you have the 64-bit version installed.

Hi Lenard,

Sorry I made a mistake still running 64bit Firefox on the box

$ yum list installed firefox
Code:
Loading "installonlyn" plugin
Installed Packages
firefox.x86_64                           1.5.0.3-1.1.fc5        installed
However I am aware that it is possible to run 32bit flash-plugin on 64bits Firefox. Though it is not an easy job. I'm now searching for the relevant articles.
