PROBLEM:
Fedora Core 6 "fresh out of the box" includes SOME support for ATI video adapters (X600). When I installed BERYL:
Code:
# yum install beryl-gnome
everything goes through fine and normal. When I run the beryl-manager
Code:
# beryl-manager
I get this error:
Code:
libGL warning: 3D driver claims to not support visual 0x4b
XGL Absent, checking for NVIDIA
Nvidia Absent, assuming AIGLX
libGL warning: 3D driver claims to not support visual 0x4b
Initiating splash
beryl: water: GL_ARB_fragment_program is missing
Reloading all options.
What this^^^ means is I can't get all of the cool effects because my Radeon X600 Video Adapter is not fully supported.... Beryl Version 1.3 comes up yet it is not fully workingI can do stuff like rotate the cude, wobbly windows, etc. yet it can not do the REST OF THE COOL STUFF (Water Waves, etc.) because it does not have FULL 3D SUPPORT....

Trying to find the sollution...
So I was wondering, if I download the new driver, from the link below, would I be able to get FULL 3D SUPPORT?

1- So I went http://ati.amd.com/support/driver.html (IT HAS A NEW LOOK.....)
2- Then I click on Linux x86 > Radeon > Radeon X600
3- And it took me to: http://ati.amd.com/support/drivers/l...ux-radeon.html
4- If you look on that website, they tell you to download and run this Check.sh file ( ttps://a248.e.akamai.net/f/674/9206/0/www2.ati.com/drivers/linux/check.sh )
5-When I try to run that file I get this error:
Code:
[root@localhost Desktop]# sh check.sh
=====================================================================
 ATI Technologies
=====================================================================
You are either not running this script from the console
or simply do not have console ownership. Requirement failed.
Unable to determine XFree86 Version. Stopping now.
6- Ok so chech.sh does not work so I try the ATI Driver Installer , 55.7MB, Version 8.32.5, Updated Dec. 13 2006, Package Includes: Automated installer and Display Drivers for XFree86 4.3 and X.Org 6.7, 6.8, 6.9, 7.0, 7.1.
7- Ok so I download the ati-driver-installer-8.32.5-x86.x86_64.run package This would be the second time. I will not run this again because last time I followed THEIR INSRUCTIONS (ATI.Com) Berly would not work afterwards. Is there a correct way to install this for Fedora Core 6?

How is this the ultimate guide? It seems to be a list of prints from your system that is not even fully supporting xgl. This is not so much an ultimate guide as a plea for help.
