3d problem with fc5 x86_64 ati-drivers
I have been searching for a solution to this wierd problem for ages. My configuration is an x86_64 cpu with ati x300 pci express card running on FC5 x86_64.
The thing is currently I am using the livna drivers as the original ati drivers failed to compile. And it sort of works...but only for 64bit compiled binaries. All other 32bit binaries give a GlxBadContext error and quit. But these used to work when I used FC4 and stuff the proprietry drivers worked fine for both 32 and 64 bit compiled games. I just don't understand it. Also glxgears onl gives me about 2000fps. Is it normal? Hope someone can really help me. Thanx |
I have the same exact problem, I read that the kernel that came with FC5 64-bit version had a problem with ATI 3d acceleration, but was fixed with the next kernel. I updated the kernel, but still get the same error. Im still working on it, and will post when I find a solution. Hopefully someone will post a solution before I find one.

Be more specific please.
Actually I fixed this problem sometime back, but as there was no response to my post I assumed nobody had ever encountered such a problem. Its pretty simple. But u have not specified the exact error you get. So in general, I noticed you have to use the kmod-fglrx package from the livna repo. It works. Then for 32 bit games to work you have to download xorg-x11-drv-fglrx-libs-32bit package also from livna using yum.
Everything should work fine after that. P.S After doing the above, you may also have to copy the contents of /usr/X11R6/lib/ to /usr/lib/ for games to work. Cya the_warper |
