I guess you're supposed to ctrl+alt+mousegrab your desktop, then drag the cube around. 3d effects and such are configured from within the compizfusion control panel, which you need to have installed -- if you can't find the settings there, you might not find them anywhere (simple ).
By the way, it's all explained in the CF control panel - keys to enable/"use" the effects and all, so maybe you should read it more carefully next time.

thanks for your hint..
In fact I have been able to use ctrl+alt+mouse grab to rotate the cube , but what I want is the reflection effect and the perspective view, i.e the cube seen from a distance in space, as if one has zoomed out....
I installed compiz fusion configuration setting manager (ccsm) for fedora, if that is what you mean by CF control panel... and did all the settings but the effect aren't showing up... that is why this post...
thanks

That's probably the configuration utility I meant (I'm not a Compiz Fusion user every day, so I can't remember). I think there was a Zoom configuration somewhere in the Cube settings, that dealt with the cube zooming while you rotate it; and someplace else there was a setting where you could determine how far windows seem to be from each other that are in different layers (in front of / behind of each other); if these are what you're looking after, try to re-check the settings of the cube and windows. I know the configuration settings can be a jungle (at least used to be), so it might take some time to find out the exact thing..
