[?] how to enable iwconfig?

Ok, I have finally figured out how to install my wireless network card after many headaches.

The one catch now is that I don't have a "iwconfig" command in my terminal. It says "command not found". Same for the ifconfig command.

I know I'm going to have to reconfigure my kernel, but I don't want to screw again when I'm so close to it.

What is the main thing I should enable in "make menuconfig" for the kernel to enable the two previous options?

Are you trying the command as root or as your user account? Try it as root (via su).

I tried su - root and now it works

Ifconfig and iwconfig need to be run as root. I did the exact same thing you did when I first started using Linux.
