Timeout trying to launch Scratch text editor

Hello all,

Trying out elementary on my laptop but I suddenly see that I cannot launch the default Scratch text editor (no activity when trying to launch via GUI). When I run from the command line, I get the following output:

Code:
sean@skillian-nix-pc:~$ scratch-text-editor
[_LOG_LEVEL_INFO 19:43:33.269548] Application.vala:77: Scratch version: 2.0.2.1
[_LOG_LEVEL_INFO 19:43:33.269717] Application.vala:79: Kernel version: 3.2.0-51-generic
[_LOG_LEVEL_DEBUG 19:43:33.273757] Settings.vala:158: Loading settings from schema 'org.pantheon.scratch.saved-state'
[_LOG_LEVEL_DEBUG 19:43:33.275079] Settings.vala:158: Loading settings from schema 'org.pantheon.scratch.settings'
[_LOG_LEVEL_DEBUG 19:43:33.277502] Settings.vala:158: Loading settings from schema 'org.pantheon.scratch.services'
[_LOG_LEVEL_FATAL 19:43:58.297526] [GLib-GIO] Timeout was reached
[_LOG_LEVEL_FATAL 19:43:58.297638] Scratch will not function properly.
sean@skillian-nix-pc:~$
I have tried uninstalling, cleaning, purging, autoremoving and then re-installing Scratch, but I get the same behavior. Where can I reset these settings? The namespace looks like a Java namespace (I suppose Vala uses the same naming convention). Is there a file I can delete to revert to default settings?

i think those "schemas" relate to gconf.
you might want to take a look (gconf-editor?) if some configuration settings have survived all your purging.

Thumbs up For future reference...

The next time some apt updates came around and I applied them, it turned out I had at some point removed a lot of vala/GTK dependencies which lead to the issue! After they were re-installed and I re-installed Scratch, the issue went away.
