Loki 0.4 - Apache web server not running

Hi Newbie here!
I have recently installed Xamp package and tried
Code:
./manager-linux-x64.run
in
Code:
/opt/lampp
folder. After clicking start all button MySQL, ProFTPD shows running status but apache web service displays status stop. I have tried ports 80,8080,9000,8079,2222 ... but all in vain. On port 80 firefox shows up after typing command
Code:
lsof -i @0.0.0.0:80
. I have closed the browser and tried again but can't find struggle fruitful. Please suggest some solution.

Current system spec. are:-
  1. elementary OS 0.4 Loki (64-bit),
  2. Intel® Core™ i7-3632QM CPU @ 2.20GHz × 8
  3. 7.7 GiB

Thanks in advance.

How did you determine this status? With ps or top?

If you got that from ps or top... From the ps man page...
S interruptible sleep (waiting for an event to complete)

ie. It's working just waiting for input.

That looks promising... Sounds like you almost have it working.

If you...

telnet localhost 80
GET /
<enter>
<enter>
<ctrl-D>

What do you get?

Thanks cyent! I tried
Code:
ps -e
and detected the PID of apache2 web server. I typed
Code:
sudo kill
PID# and then restarted the xampp and it worked.
