xscreensaver error

When I try to run xscreensaver-demo as normal user, I keep getting this error message:

The xscreensaver daemon did not start up properly. Please check your $PATH and permissions.

Well it is in my path,

ls -l /usr/bin/xscreensaver
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 212880 2008-07-20 22:48 /usr/bin/xscreensaver

What about the permission? When I type ps ax, I see it running;

11315 pts/1 S 0:00 xscreensaver -nosplash

Any ideas on what is wrong? I'm using Debian Lenny.

Thnx.

I tried uninstalling & reinstalling still get same error message. I can't figure out why it seems I'm the only one having this issue.

Thnx for the suggestion anyway.

Well, turns out since I have Gnome, I was able to use gnome-screensaver and its working. I will still look into xscreensaver to see if it's a bug or what.

Thnx.
