x wont start!
Hi i installed Half life using wine and then i was trying to optimize the graphics however i failed and as a result
x dosent start

well, the error is "failed to load nvidia kernel module," so the nvidia driver is somehow messed up (perhaps from a kernel update).
i'd say try reinstalling the nvidia driver.

are you using knoppix, debian, or debian installed from knoppix? your XF86Config file seems non-standard.
oh, and i think that 'DefaultColorDepth 24' should be replaced with 'DefaultDepth 24' in XF86Config. and make sure that your monitor is capable of displaying all of those resolutions listed in the 24-bit color section. there is no 32-bit color support in xfree86 yet (24-bit is equivilent to what windows claims is 32-bit color), so you don't need that section.

Knopix is NOT Debian, too many different repositories in the sources.list.
Try Kanotix or MEPIS which are ONLY based on Sid.
