X requirements for video playback

I'm in the process of writing a simple package download script for the new Debian 'testing' net-installer with manual package selection. Everything is working fine, except video playback. If I attempt to play a mpg file type with Xine, ogle, gstreamer, or totem, the X server crashes immediately.

Obviously I'm missing something major here. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks...

Check the log file /var/log/XF* see if anything in there can explain it.

Hi,

If you start Xine (or the others) from console, you will have more information on what's going on (wrong). Keep us informed.
