WXGA support in debian

Is there a tool that could generate the extra lines needed in XF86Config-4 to support WXGA (1200x800) ?

I am running sarge on my laptop and the current resolution is not ideal...

Thanks!

Is there a reason you don't want to add the 8 characters to the file?

because it wouldn't work!

We need to generate the appropriate mode lines foreach resolution and i don't know how to do that. So i was wondering which tool would produce them?

I have a wuxga 1900x1200 and just adding the lines worked for me. If it isn't, your display or video card are probably reporting it unsupported.
Assuming you are using 24bit depth try adding/adjusting these lines in your Screen section.

DefaultDepth 24
SubSection "Display"
Depth 24
Modes "1200x800" "1152x864" "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480"
EndSubSection

If that doesn't work check your X server log file for hints. You will probably see out of range messages.
