How I got my Wireless working

Here's what worked for me to get my Dell / Broadcom card to work.

First install ndiswrapper and wireless tools packages.
Copy the windows drivers over to your local directory. I just copied it to /
then logged in as root do(type at the prompt) the following:

ndiswrapper -i thenameofyourdriver.inf

then at the prompt

modprobe ndiswrapper

then at the prompt

ifup wlan0

Now jump over to your system tools and select the graphical network configuration. Set up a new wirless adapter as wlan0. Just follow the step by step and save.

Final step

in the /etc directory edit the file named modules and add this:
ndiswrapper

Now the driver should load and setup automagically every boot.

how do i do that part
I'm not sure what guide you're following but I've never since version 0.8 (when I started using it) have had to do that. The directions in the post above are fine and should get it installed.

On my system, I also had to modify the /etc/network/interfaces file by adding an ip address, the essid and key.
