My set up:
Server (192.168.2.13)
- Debian sarge
- 2 SCSI drivers, raid 0 with mdadm (/dev/md0) - ext3
- NFS server, exporting 2 folder (one is /dev/md0; other is normal IDE,/dev/hdb1)
Main (192.168.2.9)
- Debian SID
- mounts both NFS folders
Now then, until like a week ago it was working fine, i could read/write from and to both folders. Now recently through NFS, if i try to mv or cp a file it just hangs and i cant kill it or umount it or anything, so i have to reboot to be able to clear it, otherwise i have processes running for no reason. The thing is that this happens when writing to my raid or my other folder. So it has to do with the NFS itself (because i can write between folders with ssh). When i attempt to copy a file, network activity goes to an alternating stream of 35k and 68k which goes on and off, but it doesnt do anything and no file goes on it. I'm guessing NFS is borked, so i ran an apt-get update && apt-get dist-upgrade on both machines and got mysql security updates on my server and 250 megs on my main (pretty much everything) get upgraded. I have no problem mounting NFS, but once its mounted and i attempt to move something on it, it just hangs. No error message no nothing and then it locks it up and df also hangs...
I of course know that debian sid has no official support, but is anyone experiencing the same problem? It's getting annoying and don't really know what to do. I was able to back up my entire raid but it's getting annoying and i need that space. NFS is able to read just fine, error is only when copying.
I've redone the raid serveral times, remade the filesystems and all the permissions (on both server and main), but cant seem to get it working. Is there any alternative to NFS for quick data read/write via lan?
