Why apt-get update doesn't work?

the vim /etc/apt/sources.list

deb http://opensource.nchc.org.tw/debian etch main non-free
deb http://security.debian.org/ etch/updates main contrib

Code:
Err http://opensource.nchc.org.tw etch Release.gpg
  Temporary failure resolving 'proxy.pregi.net'
Err http://security.debian.org etch/updates Release.gpg
  Temporary failure resolving 'proxy.pregi.net'
Failed to fetch http://opensource.nchc.org.tw/debian/dists/etch/Release.gpg Temporary failure resolving 'proxy.pregi.net'
Failed to fetch http://security.debian.org/dists/etch/updates/Release.gpg Temporary failure resolving 'proxy.pregi.net'
Reading package lists... Done
W: Couldn't stat source package list http://opensource.nchc.org.tw etch/non-free Packages (/var/lib/apt/lists/opensource.nchc.org.tw_debian_dists_etch_non-free_binary-amd64_Packages) - stat (2 No such file or directory)
W: Couldn't stat source package list http://security.debian.org etch/updates/main Packages (/var/lib/apt/lists/security.debian.org_dists_etch_updates_main_binary-amd64_Packages) - stat (2 No such file or directory)
W: Couldn't stat source package list http://security.debian.org etch/updates/contrib Packages (/var/lib/apt/lists/security.debian.org_dists_etch_updates_contrib_binary-amd64_Packages) - stat (2 No such file or directory)
W: You may want to run apt-get update to correct these problems
E: Some index files failed to download, they have been ignored, or old ones used instead.
What seems to be the error?

This is a DNS issue.See if in the /etc/resolv.conf the correct DNS server/s are listed there.

As root type this;
Code:
gedit /etc/resolv.conf
and hit enter,then add this line;
nameserver (ip addres of your DNS server) where ip address is the address of your DNS server.If you have DHCP then you can put gateway address there.Save the file and reboot.
Or when you're in the etc/resolv.conf directory on the command line do;
Code:
nameserver (ip address) add
