Who Uses vsFTPd Software?

I am wondering if anyone uses vsFTPd software on their Debian server? I had some questions about enabling anonymous logins and where those files are uploaded to?

I use vsftpd.

I guess you are aware the configuration file is /etc/vsftpd.conf and is very well commented.

To use anonymous ftp:
Code:
# Allow anonymous FTP? (Beware - allowed by default if you comment this out).
anonymous_enable=NO
change 'NO' to 'YES'

For the updload dir, you have to setup a chroot. You might want to look at this article, which is for proftpd, but should work for vsftpd too.

Well, right now I like the way my FTP server is set up.

I have 2 users on my Debian box and I show 3 home directories:

- Carlos
- FTP
- Laura

Carlos can browse outside of his /home/carlos dir but does not have write permissions beyond his home dir.

Laura can only see/write to /home/laura/ directory and nothing else.

Now I have never used this FTP directory (/home/ftp/) but I would assume that if I did enable anonymous logins on my vsftpd server, this is where anonymous would upload and download from, right? I have never used chroot but will review the link you posted.
