which version of debian is stable but up to date?

Hey,

I am probably going to install debian through libranet and I was wondering which version of debian is the best. Sid or Sarge? I will be developing games and programs on it, so I don't want it to crash in the middle of something like that, but I also want somewhat a modern distro.

I know I want KDE 3.2, latest gimp, a 2.4.x kernel, and stuff like that.

And has anyone installed debian using the daily build sarge iso? If that has good hardware detection and is easy to install I could just use that too.

Thanks

Completely stable

I am currently runnin 2.4.x kernel on debian UNSTABLE and i haven't rebooted in over 2 weeks (since my initial installation)...it's completely stable.

So if unstable is this stable, you'll definitely be fine with sarge

Sarge netinstall

The Sarge Net install CD is great, - I used it over the weekend. Good hardware detection and simple enough to use. I run SID also and it's stable - more stable than most distros! Sarge is better tested and should therefore be even more stable - and up to date.

If you wnat to install some packages from unstable add unstable sources to apt, set the default to testing and install only the 'unstable' packages you want.

I Love Debian!
