Wheezy KDE Desktop Configuration, Multiple Monitor

I have just installed Debian 7.0 (Wheezy) with the KDE GUI. The system has two monitors, both of 1920x1200 resolution. I have found the "Desktop" settings that permit me to make these two monitors independent of each other. By this I mean that the data on one monitor is not a "Clone" of the other one, and that the images essentially are located next to each other the way they are supposed to be. I am able to move the mouse from one to the other without problems. The system definitely knows there are two monitors and that they are next to each other.

The problem is that KDE is treating the two monitors independently. What I would like is one desktop whose resolution so 3840x1200 rather than two 1920x1200 desktops. Backgrounds and screensavers are treated independently of one another. I would like to assign one wallpaper that would correctly stretch over both monitors, and have only one "Desktop" options tab in the corner of the display.

Does anyone know if this is possible, and if so how to do it?

I have searched for an xorg.conf file to use the one that successfully worked for Squeeze, but apparently this is no longer the standard way X11 is configured.

Thank you in advance.

What graphics are you using? I remember having this problem with FGLRX drivers. Each monitor had it's own desktop, and the only thing that could be shared between them was the mouse.

I have two graphics cards. An NVidia GeForce 7600 GS and an NVidia GeForce GT 240. Both are PCI bus cards and seem to be functioning properly on the "stock" drivers. My eventual goal is to figure out how to expand the desktop to three monitors. The GT 240 has two DVI output ports, but thus far, I have yet to figure out how to make the NVidia cards do more than a double monitor desktop.

Any help you could provide would be most appreciated.

Thank you in advance.
