Wheezy 7.4 installs a GUI by default?
 

I just downloaded the latest Wheezy installer (2014-02-15). It is the "minimal netinstal" for AMD 64, size 232 MB.

At boot-up of the installer I selected "install".

Went thru the usual language setup, root & user, partitioning, mirror setup, and then the installation finished and rebooted. To my horror the system rebooted into a GUI.

I installed a server, and I avoid GUI's as the plague on my server. A few days ago I installed an older 32-bit version of Wheezy, and that behaved normal. After installation the base system it ran dselect asking whether I wanted a database, print server etc. Now I missed that completely.

Has something changed in the install procedure?
Did something happen automatically while I was lunching?
Did I download the wrong netinstaller version?
Is there something wrong with the installer?

You should have selected Advanced Options and then you can select the desktop of your choice or no desktop at all if that's what you want.

So that has become different of what it was, isn't it?

I believe so but am not sure. It's been a long time. I do remember at some point not finding the non-default desktop (KDE) in a different place in the install process. So thing have definitely changed over time.

I downloaded the correct netinstaller, but copying to the USB stick failed. And Debian Live LXDE was on that stick. When you install that Live version, it installs LXDE by default.
So it is my own fault. :redface:
