What file does debian use for configuring network interfaces?

Ok, so I haven't booted up into linux in a long while, but the last time I did, I remember editing a config file for netowork interfaces. I know I backed it up before I did, I just don't know what file I'm looking for. Can someone help me? Thanks a lot for your help.
