What's LoopBack? Ethernet card error...

Am new to Linux, and very very new to Debian, aos what's loopback?
Debian set the ethernet card to 10Mbps, but my ethernet card is capable for 100Mbps, how to change it?

Loopback is where any traffic sent out comes straight back in again - it's what you use to access network services on your own PC. A simple google search would have told you that. . .
