want to use left mon for desktop 1&3 and right mon for Desktop 2&4

Hi all,
Is here a way to force one monitor to show certain desktops? I have dual monitors and would like to have the left Monitor show desktop 1&3 and the right monitor to show 2& 4. I use MATE as a DE if it matters.

I've never heard of Nate. Is it Mate?

Anyhow, I've never heard of a desktop that does that sort of thing.

Yes I meant Mate and thanks for replying I was hoping it was possible, I guess not

Sounds a lot like how i3/sway work.

This is true and it is what keeps me using i3wm. I have 5 desktops assigned to my left monitor and 5 to the right. I usually have desktops 2 (left) and 6 (right) for my web browser. This means I can move to 3 (left) to use my word processor but still see 6 (right) and take information from my web browser. It's all keyboard driven and easy to configure in a text file (.config/i3/config)

I can achieve the same thing with Gnome-shell (for example) by making certain windows sticky but I find that inefficient these days.
