W00t! Successfully installed Radeon drivers today!

Wow, X is so much snappier now! Just wanted to thank everybody, long time lurker here, and I couldn't have done it without reading through all these Debian posts.

On a side note, I still haven't successfully compiled my own kernel (always get a kernel panic) but luckily Debian had the right modules compiled by default (nvidia-agp, agpgart, drm).

Relevant specs:
nforce2 motherboard
Radeon 9600 Pro

Now I'm off to download Wolfenstein ET and give it a try in linux!

Would be appropriate to explain to members how you did it. Many members still have problems with ATI.

Well, I installed the driver too (I have a Radeon 9600pro) but I didn't had any problems. I just used the installation instructions that can be found on the site of the Ati drivers.

EDIT: I said it wrong: when installing I had no problems. And I didn't had any for a long time. But I recently updated the system (running testing) and suddenly the whole X system didn't work, it couldn't find any out or input device. And reconfiguring Xorg didn't work so I reinstalled the system (seemed simplest to me) and now it works fine again. Though I haven't installed the drivers again yet.
