Unhappy Virtual PC X-Server not starting

This thread was languishing in the software forum so I've crossposted it here.

I have installed Debian under Microsoft Virtual PC 2004.
I simply need to get a webserver going to host a few PHP web pages for a university project. In fact Apache/HTTP is working but FTP is not which isn't helping getting error messages out to post here.

Anyway the problem is that the X-server doesn't start up. I've pasted the XF86 error log into the following post. I've tried all sorts of settings with xf86cfg but no luck. Running this I can get a graphic interface by repeatedly pressing Alt-Ctrl-Plus. When I get a clear image I can navigate using the numeric keypad in place of my mouse.

Here's a copy of my XFree86config-4 file (which I had to copy to /var/www/config.html to get onto the host PC through the browser!)

If someone running Debian on VPC could post their XFree86config-4 I'd be very grateful. Is this all I'd need for a virtual machine? Or are there some hardware specific configurations too?
