Vfat folders shown as un-known files

Good day,

I have a problem with mounted vfat partition. Some folders are shown as un-known files even if I boot back to Windows XP.

The problem seems to have occured when I was building 2.6 kernel and mounted the partition. But why some folders only.

Note : I think that these folder were created from linux into a mounted vfat partition.

Is it possible to change the first bit in the permitions string "-rwx------" to d indicating a directory.

Regards

Probably not. I would first back up the entire vfat partition. Then try deleting the files and creating them again as directories.
