"Unexpected End of File" message on LXTerminal while trying to unzip a .tar.gz file

I am trying to download pyserial-2.5.tar.gz to my Debian computer. After navigating to my desktop where I downloaded the .tar.gz file, I typed in the command gunzip pyserial-2.5.tar.gz and got an error message saying gzip: pyserial-2.5.tar.gz unexpected end of file. I'm using the LXTerminal if that helps, but when I tried to use Root Terminal the same things happen. Thanks!

sounds like the download didn't complete correctly. get it again, check the md5sum if it's published to verify you have the entire file.

Thanks a ton! It turns out that the file had initiated uploading but would then cancel as soon as I typed in the command. I just had to wait for 15 mins for it to download and it worked perfectly.
