Udev anyone?
I'm on sid, kernel 2.6.9-2 and gnome 2.8.2. Everything works just fine. Except udev. Well, udev works great when I'm logged as root. Put in a cd and it appears on the desktop. Nothing when logged as a user. I tried adding my user to the disk group, nothing. Adding him to the root group, nothing. I tried creating a permission file (00-myperms.permissions) and setting hd* root:yanik:0660 and still nothing.
I saw there is a lot of script in /etc/udev. Why are they there? other distros usually have nothing but the 2 dir for perms and rules. Anyway, anybody have a quick fix? I feel this should be simple to correct. I'm spending way too much time on this simple thing. Thanks a lot Yanik |
AFAIK its not udev but hal/dbus issue. sorry cant help - dont use it.

You may want to look at your /etc/fstab and make sure you have "auto, user" for your /dev/cdrom!!!

I was so sure it was udev, I didn't look anywhere else. I'll check my fstab and see if dbus/hal have something interesting in their logs. Thanks again
y2k, I assume udev/dbus/hal works for you? |

Sorry, I am able to mount it as a user, but it doesn't auto mount like it does as root.
