Truncation problem

When I use CTRL-ALT-F1 to go to the command-line, the left side is truncated. For example, where the text says it's "Debian GNU/Linux testing/unstable", the "De" is chopped off Debian. I only have this problem on a "real" command-line, not under an xterm.

When you boot, what text mode is it using? Should say in lilo.conf.

(I just thought of this. Sometimes monitors screw up in display proportions when changing resolutions (Which is what changing to a VT does). Have you tried an FB kernel?

Thanks. Lilo.conf had vga=791 on the first line. After I commented it out, I got a much better looking console with no truncation.

Ok. Good. If you ever move to a console with FB, check out the framebuffer-HOWTO. It will tell you some cool things with frambuffer. (EG. If you have FB enabled, and pass vga=0317 to lilo, then you get a 16bit 1024x768 console.
