trouble installing sarge netinstall on a7v333

Hi,

here's my situation, I have a asus a7v333 mobo, 512ram, a quantium fireball 10gig hard drive and i can't seem to install debian 'sarge' netinstall.

What happens is when i get to an boot loader, it freezes, grub freezes at "searching for other operating systems 16%" and LILO freezes at "Creating lilo.conf 25%".

I figured I'd just go into expert mode, and avoid both, however this just gives me a windows error, telling me i need to install after i reboot. I thought sarge said it wiped the harddrive? Also, anyone come across these errors when install?

Thanks ahead of time..

Hmm i seemed to have solved my own problem, i disconnected all unnessicary things and now grub loaded fine...

now however, i'm having a big issue getting my ethernet card to work.

so far i've assigned it an ip address using the following

ifconfig eth0 10.0.0.10 netmask 255.0.0.0 up

that seemed to work, and i can ping the machine from my laptop...

however i check the dhcp client list on the router, and the machine wasn't listed, and i still can't access any sites to pull down the packages... so i'm stuck in console and can't do much.

any tips or links? i will rtfm if i can find one that will help me thanks

Always seem to solve the dumb problems myself... should have all been prevented...

Stupid me swapped a new ethernet card into the machine so it would be compatible with debian....

Long story short, it was as simple as registering the new mac address with my router which was using mac filtering for added security... man i suck ahaha
