trouble editing source.list

Hey guys I have googled this editing the sources.list but I have nto seen anyone with this.

I edit the list I start synaptic to make sure that all is good but I get an error on starting it.

Malformed line 7 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list (dist parse) press ok

The list of sources could not be read.
Go to the repository dialog to correct the problem.

press ok

here is my sources.list

#deb file:///cdrom/ sarge main

deb http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/ testing main
deb-src http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/ testing main

deb http://security.debian.org/ stable/updates main
deb http://paradies.homelinux.net/debs /testing
deb http://hemma.tobbe.nu/debian/ unstable/i386/

Tidey up the lines. Remove the blanks. And remove the space on the last line(7) before "unstable".

new one.

#deb file:///cdrom/ sarge main
deb http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/ testing main
deb-src http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/ testing main
deb http://security.debian.org/ stable/updates main
deb http://gate.porlarhome:753/~hectorg/ debian main

with a new error.

Couldn't stat source package list http://gate.porlarhome debian/main Packages (/var/lib/apt/lists/gate.porlarhome:753_%7ehectorg_dists_debian_main_binary-i386_Packages) - stat (2 No such file or directory)

I am getting the server names from apt-get.org. I perform a search and it list the server and I was under the impression that all i did was throw in the name in sources.list.

Now i even followed the link to the website and I see the package i want. So i know its there. Any help on this is greatly appreciated.

Then how about posting the actually URL that works then maybe one of us can figure it out those ones you have there resolve to nothing but errors. BTW what are you trying to install that is not already in the Debian archives.

Your source entries are messed up. It does not follow the format
Code:
deb uri distribution [component1] [componenent2] [...]
My best guess is that
Code:
deb http://gate.porlarhome:753/~hectorg/ debian main
should be
Code:
deb http://gate.porlarhome:753/~hectorg/debian testing main

That site looks like it has moved the directory or something like that because I tried many differnet lines and they will not fetch anything.
