The squeeze on squeeze?

So, maybe I'm just an impatient jerk, but it's taking a long time for them to release Lenny, considering how long ago Squeeze was announced, and how long ago Lenny was frozen. It was coming out in September, and September's almost over...

Am I crazy?

No, but would you rather have something that doesn't work and was released on time, or something that was held back and works perfectly?

jmite 09-25-2008 11:55 PM

Yeah, I know, working perfectly is good. It's just, it'd be nice if they didn't release the info and get your hopes all up, then delay it.

I predict January

You know the Debian policy. Some might it call arrogance, but it guarantees stability and a minimum of errors.

But why worry? Lenny is as good today while frozen as it would be when it became stable today. You can't speed up the development anyway.

I bet I could find this same thread for Sarge and Etch without looking very hard...

What's that line... he who doesn't know history, is doomed to repeat it ? ;-)

jmite 09-29-2008 11:19 PM

Yeah, I wouldn't be so impatient, but 2 weeks ago there was tons of fuss about the next generation of Debian, and now the fuss has died down with nothign actually released. Oh well...

I predict around the first of the year for it's release.

If I'm using Lenny now as testing and it finally goes stable, how would I make my system the new testing? Would I change all lines with Lenny to the new Testing name?

Thnx.

Just change the name in the repos to testing instead of Lenny. IF you leave it as lenny, when lenny goes stable you will be running stable.
