Hi all,
I had Debian Sarge installed on my computer and due to some error messages under Gnome after doing an apt-get dist-upgrade wanted to install the newest testing version.
I did as follows:
- Burn the ISO-net install from the net, copy it with k3b (cheking md5-sum).
- After that i erased with the CD the old "/" partition of the old linux system, maked with the free space an ext3 partition and then i've tried to install...
The problem is, that after 100% of the basicsystem is installed i got an error message:
Quote:
Unable to install initrd-tools
an erro was returned while trying to install the initrd-tools package onto the target system.
check /var/log/syslog for more info....

The Grub loader also didn't work anymore(Error15), so i could not boot the windows partition.
After trying to reinstall GRUB/LILO from the net-install CD without effort (error, could not be installed) i installed some bootloader on the mbr from which i can now boot, at least windows.
Has anyone got an idea what the problem may be? I didn't delete my older /home partition, but I'm not sure that can be the source of the problem.
I would be gratefull for any tips, I can't work under windows!!! :-(
Thanks in advice!
