Tcsh segfaults on my Debian squeeze on Acer today.

This one used to work well yesterday.

Error message reads:Situation is same either as a login shell or non-login shell (bash -> tcsh).

For some reason, tcsh does not fail when evoked by root.

So far, I have done following:
1. remove .tcshrc and .login, (nothing changes.)
2. reinstall tcsh by aptitude, (same error.)
3. check free space left on HD (enough)
4. Web search (not fruitful)

Does anybody have similar experience?
What is next step?

Any information will be appreciated.

No, I don't use (t)csh but searching for segfaults yields for instance https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/86683 (Ubuntu). You did a lot of diagnostics already but not the history file check from http://bugs.gw.com/view.php?id=29. If that isn't it then maybe check the Debian bug tracker for tcsh tickets?

For some reason, (may be because I used "error 4" and "at 0 ip 080603e0" as baits for search), .history threads did not show up.

Also, on my other Debian squeeze Penguin, multibyte in history does not result in segfault, I was looking for some sort of incompatibilities.
