Can someone enlighten me on how to apply this patch?

Is really annoying to see that message appear while you boot.

i have the sam
e problem with debian sarge a maxtor diamond plus drive. Works fine with debian's 2.6.5-1-k7 kernel. i'll try the patch.

Download http://www.varlock.com/files/ide-cache-flush.patch to your home directory. #cd /usr/src/linux
localhost:/usr/src/linux#patch -p1 -i /home/(user)/ide-cache-flush.patch
patching file drivers/ide/ide-disk.c
