Smile switching users using user switcher applet


Dear Guys - I found a helpfile which describes the use of an applet called user -switcher it sounds just like what I need. I cant find a package for it - how does it install please?

If you mean something like the Gnome user switching tool (I hope you don't) then it either comes along some of the desktop packages (like "gnome-applets") or is available on the net as an archive. The Gnome user switching applet, though, is horrible: switching to another user takes several seconds even on high-end hardware, and typically you need to give your password twice when switching back.

Thanks B0uncer you hit the nail - it is this awkwardness in Gnome user switching which drove me to look for something better. I'm pretty new to Debian, started with 3.1 sarge and it came with Gnome. I've heard of KDE; is it better and if worth a try can I install and use it as well as gnome while I try it out perhaps?
