Question Suggestions for partitioning my hard drive

Hi again,

Now that I decided to install debian for good in my box, I'd like some suggestions on how to partition the space I set aside for debian.
Here is my setup:

80GB hard drive

100 MB ext2 (/boot)
7000 MB NTFS (C:XP root)
30000 MB NTFS (D:Program files)
15000 MB NTFS (F:My Documents)
5000 MB FAT32 (F:Windows/linux Shared partition)
24000 MB (where debian will be installed)
5000 MB empty (to try out other distros)

/root ???MB
/usr ???MB
/home ???MB
swap 2x512MB

Also, what other directories should I have on separate partitions??

Thanks

I would go with
/boot - 20 to 100 MB
swap - 512 MB
/ - 3.5 GB (one for each distro you would like should give plenty of room

Share /boot and /home between distros

Proper Filesystem Layout

/root ????? I don't even think this is possible....

/boot a 50MB suffices (I made a kernel that was at max 1 MB) + config files and grub (if u use it, I use lilo)....

/usr 2.5GB
/home about 300MB/user with periodic backup
/ 500-1GB suffices

All of these are IMHO.

You can take a look at http://www.markus-welsch.de/linux/se...g_the_harddisk for my recommendation. The size of your partitions differ of course since this is just a usage example for a server...

boot = mbr
swap = 512MB
