startup quirk

Ok im completely new to debian and just got it customized the way i like it. It beats the hell out of many many other distros but there is one weird quirk that i have with it. After installing fluxbox i have my /etc/inittab set to init 3 for multi-user mode so i have to type 'startx' to start flux. But after installing flux whenever i boot up xdm always comes up. I tried switching to init 2, 1, etc. but xdm always comes up. Can someone provide help?? TIA.

I would apt-get uninstall xdm. Then it couldn't come up!

dpkg-reconfigure xdm
Make sure you select to not use xdm as your default login manager.

Debian doesn't use the multiple runlevels, it has single user, multiuser, halt and reboot.
