Start a script at boot of Linux (root permissions)

Hi,

I have a problem with alsamixer that put randomly my sound cards. Shall I use rc2.d or rc.local to say to also to restart until it takes the right one?

How to install this script since simply creating a script into /etc/rc2.d does not run it

Is rc.local a better and simpler, and working, alternative?

Thanks

It is its purpose to run commands at boot up, so yes, it is simple and working. I don't know if it is better.
