Some KDE applications take a lot of time to appear (Debian Etch, kernel 2.6.25.1)

Hello everybody:

I'm using a Huawei E226 USB Modem for connecting to internet and when I'm online and I want to load some KDE applications, for example, Amarok or Kopete, they take a lot of time to appear. I think there's something blocking or crashing temporary those applications, but I don't know why.

I've got Debian Etch R2 installed on my computer and this is the output of Dmesg command:

Code:
user@Phoenix:~$ dmesg |tail
Driver 'sr' needs updating - please use bus_type methods
sr0: scsi-1 drive
sr 5:0:0:0: Attached scsi CD-ROM sr0
sd 0:0:0:0: Attached scsi generic sg0 type 0
sd 1:0:0:0: Attached scsi generic sg1 type 0
sr 5:0:0:0: Attached scsi generic sg2 type 5
PPP generic driver version 2.4.2
PPP BSD Compression module registered
PPP Deflate Compression module registered
usb 2-3: USB disconnect, address 3
THe modem is little bit weird, because it's detected as CD-ROM device and it has NO official support for linux. I'm using pon/poff commands for connecting to internet.
Do you have any idea or suggestion?
Thanks in advance

Hi TM,
I'm not sure if I understand what your question is. Is it about your network connection in general and the functioning of your modem? Do you only have connection problems when you're trying to download kde packages in particular? Do you have an internet connection at all? If I understand you at all, this has nothing to do with kde.
Please clarify.
Cheers,
jdk

This modem is the only internet connection here and there aren't problems with the network. The only problem that I've got is when I try to load for example Kopete when I'm already connected. Kopete takes too much time to appear, but if I use gtk applications it's all ok. The problem is with KDE applications (kopete, amarok, Konqueror, etc) and yeah, I think this problem has nothing to do with KDE.

The network works perfect, I can use Iceweasel and download packages or files with no problems. BUt I think there's something delaying the loading the KDE applications.

Thanks for the answer and I hope you understand the problem
Turbo
