Slow lookup on new Debian install

I'm having a problem with 2 new Debian unstable installs. I have a comcast cable modem, connected through a hub to two computers. With the other linux distros I have on these machines, bringing up a new URL is basically instantaneous. On these, it takes about 20 seconds to look up the domain.

/etc/resolv.conf has 2 dns servers listed, but I prefer using two others comcast has. I tried changing it over, but it was overwritten the next boot. How can I stop that from happening? Also, where would error messages be logged if it's something in the background slowing it down?

Any help will be appreciated.

Barbara

You might look into the switchconf package.
