Smile Slow Gnome-2.22 on Debian Sid :-(

[Log in to get rid of this advertisement]
Hi,
Debian Sid is literally dragging in my system.Sid is uptodate.no compiz,no eyecandies!
If I press Applications menu,it takes 5-6 seconds to show up fully(the images loaded slowly).
now Nautilus manager is slow too.opening a terminal everything is damn slow.

I read many are also experiencing this problem on Gnome-2.22.
I know it is difficult to assume the cause in a bleeding edge distro like Sid.
Still what causes slowing down of Gnome ???
Gnome-system-monitor shows almost blank reg resources :?:

I think it's just some kind of "pre-loading" quirk. Mine takes some time the first time I load any application after a reboot, but after the first usage of the menu-bar or any other app, it is as fast as ever.

I have pnpbios enabled in BIOS.
though my /etc/hosts is correct.
and it is not a random problem.many ppl are complaining about slow Gnome-2.22.
I will reboot with "acpi=force pnpbios=off " to see whether that saves.

see!many Debian Lenny/sid and Ubuntu Gnome users are complaining:

Well, I don't run Sid... I have some Testing boxes (main desktop, ppc laptop, old pc...) and a bunch of Stable PC's...

So I use a bit of Lenny & a bit of Etch every day on different boxes...

On Stable, it is... well... stable

On Testing, since about a week, apps are crashing often, mainly Iceweasel, Pidgin, Nautilus... Sometimes when the screensaver kicks in...

I guess some strange things combined with the updates...

It makes me feel like running Stable on my main desktop, but I really don't feel like re-installing (that was my main reason for installing Testing, aka rolling release...)

Testing is more fun, but it sometimes behaves like a beta distro... Stable is more... you guessed it: stable
