Slow browsing AD netwotk


Hello everyone,

i'm new to linux and i can do a lots of mistakes, so forgive me...

I have installed lenny with gnome desktop on my pc in a windows AD network

I don't register my pc to the domain, but when i try to browse the network resources, i wait a lots of time untill they appear...

What can i do?

Many problems in Samba performance can be reduced or eliminated by putting the IP address of key Windows machines into the Linux and Samba host files. In your case you could put the name and IP address of the AD server(s) in your Linux /etc/hosts file. Then ensure that your Linux machine's network name resolution is set to look at files before DNS.

Hi stress_junkie,

i have put the AD servers in my Linux /etc/hosts file, but i don't know how to configure my pc to look at that file before DNS.
