Skype headset configuration issues

I've been trying to get my USB headset working with Debian since I switched from Ubuntu, and when I go to Tools/Options/Headsets, /dev/dsp1 doesn't show up on the menu. Am I missing something? Do I need to mount the device manually for Skype to see it? And if so, how?

If you're using alsa try "cat /proc/asound/cards" to see which dsp it is. If it's missing try "alsaconf" with it plugged in or "lsusb" to see if it's recognized at all.
There's also a linux forum section at skype http://forum.skype.com/viewforum.php?f=18 which you might want to search through.

Yeah, I'm using ALSA. cat /proc/asound/cards, gives me this:

0 [I82801BAICH2 ]: ICH - Intel 82801BA-ICH2
Intel 82801BA-ICH2 with AD1881A at 0xe000, irq 193

lsusb gives me this:

Bus 002 Device 002: ID 054c:007e Sony Corp.
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 001 Device 003: ID 6666:0667 Prototype product Vendor ID Smart Joy PSX, PS-PC Smart JoyPad
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 046d:0a01 Logitech, Inc.
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 0000:0000

Logitech is obviously the headset, but that doesn't really help me.

You could try manually loading the module with "modprobe snd-usb-audio" and run alsaconf afterwards.
This might help http://zerospace.org/usb-headset.html

modprobe snd-usb-audio spits out this:

FATAL: Error inserting snd_usb_audio (/lib/modules/2.6.12-1-686/kernel/sound/usb/snd-usb-audio.ko): Unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg)
FATAL: Error running install command for snd_usb_audio

Headset not working on latest Skype in Breezy

My headset works on other applications but
does not work on the latest version of Skype
for Linux, running under Breezy. Anyone else
have this problem?
