since upgrading to jessie...


hi guys,

since upgrading from wheezy to jessie on my netbook...

xwindows doesnt start automatically...i have to login in the shell then type
startx...also my account doesnt seem to have any privileges...i cant join a network or shut down the machine without going into root

where do you edit an accounts settings

i tried using usermod but cant see any options for this in the man file
any push in the right direction would be appreciated

ok so ireinstalled xfce and my computer is starting x normally again...but why can i not shut down my laptop the shutdown and restart buttons are greyed out

have to logout and login with root to shutdown

Please describe in as much detail as possible exactly how you upgraded from wheezy to jessie.

Its only my little netbook so i wasnt too bothered...but i understand the document you linked me to if it was a server...thanks

Maybe i will just clean install jessie...though i would like to solve this...as thats how you learn...

I find it easier to just to use the release name to do upgrades, unless I want testing or sid.
