I have installed simplymepis 3.3 on my hard drive but when I boot up I get the message:

grub error 17

and then nothing happens.

the /boot/grub/menu.lst is as follows:

there are two hd icons on the desttop

hda1, which has usr etc
hda3 lost+found user dicretory etc

I do not not what scsi, but I am sure my machine does not have one;

Machine configuration
AMD K2 500
RAM 386
10 g harddrive

any advice well be most welcome

I have had this message on Debian installs. The only thing I could think of doing was re-install, and that worked.
